          Kery James, born Alix Maturin on December 28, 1977, in Guadeloupe, is a French rapper, singer, songwriter, dancer, and music producer.

          He grew up in Orly, a suburb of Paris, raised by his Haitian parents. Kery began writing his own lyrics, rapping, and dancing at a young age. At the age of 10, he was noticed by the famous rapper MC Solaar at a Parisian estate known for its Islamic faith.
